Sesto al Reghena

The story

BETWEEN ART AND NATURE

In the Municipality of Sesto al Reghena we find the Abbey of Santa Maria in Sylvis, one of the most important Benedictine centers in Friuli, which owes its name to the extensive forest that surrounded it at the time of its foundation in 762 by the will of the three Lombard nobles Erfo, Marco, and Anto. The buildings that can be seen today, once you cross the entrance of the abbey complex, bear the marks of the transformations they have undergone over the centuries.

The surroundings of the Abbey complex offer interesting hiking opportunities for nature lovers. From here you can reach Lake Paker or Pacher, less than a kilometer from the Venchiaredo Fountain in the locality of Casette, in the beautiful countryside rich in resurgence springs stretching between the Municipalities of Cordovado and Bagnarola di Sesto al Reghena. This evocative artificial water basin, fed by an underground aquifer, boasts precious biodiversity, making it also a paradise for sports fishing enthusiasts.
