Valvasone-Arzene

The story

TRACES OF PASOLINI

Valvasone is the small village where Pier Paolo Pasolini taught Italian and Latin at the Middle School (the building today houses the Primary School) from October 1947 to November 1949. The testimonies of his students describe a much-loved Pasolini, possessing a great ability to engage and didactic creativity.

The village is characterized by the castle of the ancient Valvasone family (mentioned for the first time in documents from 1206), of which the clock tower and the buildings with painted coats of arms on the facade still remain today. Also worth a visit is the Cathedral with its 16th-century organ and paintings by Pomponio Amalteo.
